GerMIS (German Marrow Donor Information System) is a fully automated electronic information network used in the search for an unrelated donor. GerMIS permits data to be exchanged as quickly and effectively as possible between the facilities in Germany that play a significant role in searching for donors. The current GerMIS permits decentralized databases at search centers and donor centers to communicate asynchronously with the centralized system at the ZKRD via encrypted and specially secured protocols.
